Writing Worksheet
1. What is the Title of
the Art work, Artist Name,
Media used, Date
Created, and Museum name?
I arrived
at the SPAC
Carillon Gallery early in the morning and felt an overwhelming sense of
emotion. As I looked at the art I went through all the emotions, but one
painting spoke to me in an emotional and spiritual way.
2.
What does the picture
look like; can you describe it in your own words?
I will
attach the painting in the best way I can even though I did not see a name I felt
very drawn to it. At first glance all I saw where a woman well the bottom half.
I could clearly remember the woman wearing a light blue underwear. Then as I pay
more attention to detail I realize that the woman has darker colors around her
that made me feel the emotion the painter felt. The heavy brush strokes.
3.
What three elements of design are the most
noticeable and why? I believe that shape, form, and color
are the three elements that stood out to me. Shape, because of the way the
artist painted the body in a clean noticeable way and the bottom half where different
shaped lines. I believe it had a organic form in the way that the main object
was a woman.
4.
What
principles of design are the most noticeable and why? Contrast and emphasis stood out
to me when looking at this painting. In the colors used in the painting where light
blue, tan cream colors, and dark colors. In the painting it looked like there
would be texture and movement. Emphasis was brought up in mind plenty of times
when focusing on the woman it almost felt very emotional.
5.
Analysis:For what reason was the art made; what
was the possible aesthetic philosophy; is it representational, abstract or
nonrepresentational; does it use known iconography; Are there any cultural
differences to consider about the artist? In what era was the work created, and
how does this affect the meaning of the artwork?
I felt as if the artist wanted to show or make people
feel these emotions. I personally felt like it brought up emotions of my past. I believe the artist is represents
what women go through everyday and have experience since the beginning of time.
Interpretation and Critical Argument:
6. What do
you think the artwork is about? The painter felt pain and or tried to show the pain
though the art. I simply felt like a lot of memories and things from my past
where brought up and sometimes its refreshing to know that you are human and
can work through problems.
Is
this a good work of art; Do you like it or dislike it; or is this a bad work of
art; do you like it or dislike it? Why?
·
I was so drawn to this painting I almost felt
like it spoke to me. I felt like there was a sad and traumatizing story behind
it, but I also felt like the woman in the painting was a strong woman and did
not let this event hold her back.
